What does a legitimate in-person setting look like?

An office visit still calls for a person check, a place check and an exact medicine name.

Check the person who will assess you

Before the visit, find out whether you will see a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Get that person’s full name.

Florida’s public health licence search covers those professional records, as of September 2026.

A place’s appearance or its service menu cannot answer those questions.

Does every clinic need the same licence?

Many Florida clinics require a licence from the Agency for Health Care Administration, or AHCA, as of September 2026.

Certain practices wholly owned and supervised by licensed health professionals do not need that clinic licence.

A missing AHCA listing therefore does not, by itself, prove the practice is breaking a rule.

Ask which clinic licence or exemption applies. AHCA’s clinic page links to the state facility search.

What a clinic with an AHCA licence must show

As of September 2026, a clinic licensed under Florida’s Health Care Clinic Act must display the name of its medical or clinic director. This person accepts legal responsibility for the clinic, including checking staff licences and reviewing bills.

Those clinics must also publish charges for uninsured patients paying directly.

These duties apply to clinics covered by that law, rather than every exempt doctor-owned practice.

Ask who handles follow-up and how the prescription reaches the pharmacy. Keep the visit plan and price terms together.
